Jaydeep Chakravartty, Commercial Director at India's expert company of Ingenuity Gaming, announced a rapid increase in popularity of Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) in India.

So far, over 7 million people are involved in DFS in the country. According to Ingenuity Gaming, the annual growth of the industry is 30-50%. Experts predicted that, in five years, the Indian fantasy field will engage up to 20 million players, and the industry's turnover will reach $1 billion.

For comparison: According to statistics, 41 million people are playing fantasy sports in the United States and Canada. More than 3 million individual participate in Fantasy Premier League in UK.

In the light of expectations from as well as the number of fans of Fantasy Sports, it is possible to tell safely that its popularity will continue to grow throughout the world. First and foremost, the development of modern Internet technologies will contribute to this process. Therefore, it is not surprising that DFS has recently become one of the most popular hobbies among Indian sports enthusiasts.

The local DFS is especially sought-after entertainment in the following sports leagues: IPL (cricket), Indian Super League (football), Indian Badminton League (badminton), and Pro Kabaddi League (kabaddi).

Today, there are several Indian service providers that have launched their DFS platforms that are mostly similar to ones from western countries.

In addition, Fantasy Sports has become a profitable activity among players around the world in recent years. This only helps to increase the demand for real money fantasy games in India where the people's income level is comparatively minimal.

India’s government has defined the DFS regulation, however, not yet within all states. August 2017, Punjab & Haryana High Court decided to recognize Fantasy Sports as a game of skill. As experts note, this is the first step towards legalization of DFS in the rest states in India.

Thus, India is considered as a very prospective market for Fantasy Sport operators. Analysts estimate that by the end of 2017, the total number of Internet users here will reach 500 million, of which some 400 million people use mobile Internet via their smartphones.
