British gambling regulator announced new rules for operators
The United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) announced updated requirements to be followed by online gambling operators to prevent problem gambling. The new rules will take effect on 7 May 2019.
As a part of a three-year campaign towards fairer and safer gambling in the Kingdom, the new proposal requires operators to check and verify their players’ identity and age before processing any customer money transactions. These cover both personal and bonus funds. Also, such services as free-to-play games that are not gambling technically will not be available to users under legal gambling age.
Before start gambling, players will need to provide their name, address, and birthdate with further verification Besides, any other additional question may be asked if necessary. Additionally, online gambling operators must place information that gambling on their resource is prohibited for people under 18.
UKGC believes that the new conditions will contribute to the fight against money laundering and criminal activity, as well as prevent children gambling.
