UK online gaming market reached £4.7 billion
During the period from April 2016 to March 2017, the total profit from online gambling (GGR) was £4.7 billion (€5.35 billion/ $6,33 billion). According to the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), this is 10% higher than the financial figure for a similar time line last year.
In general, the revenue of the Britain's gambling industry increased up to £13.7 billion. Online games now take 34% of the total gambling market. This is 1.5% bigger than the previous year.
The UKGC also noted that the number of country's betting offices were down by 3.9%, while bingo - by 1.4%. At the same time, the stock contributions of large public lotteries increased by 20%.
The number of licensed games reduced by 5%, while the total number of casinos rose to 146 and the slot machines - to 182 916. Gambling personnel declined by 1%, and today there are about 106 236 people.
Tim Miller, Executive Director of the UKGC, made an analysis of the data and stated that the gambling market continued to grow, especially in the online sector:
“These latest figures show that the gambling market is continuing to grow, particularly in the online sector.
“However, with such growth comes a great responsibility for operators to prevent gambling-related harm to all consumers and the public. "We would urge all gambling businesses for be acutely aware the as their market, grows so too will's focus on ensuring is protected."
